The Number 1 Dog is determined by a short essay written by any 4th or 5th grader in Geauga County. The essays
are read by a panel of judges, and the winner will receive dog tag # 1 for their dog and the title Number 1 Dog
in Geauga County.

The #1 Dog in Geauga County was awarded to Emily Walker and her dog Shadow.
Emily is a student at Kenston Intermediate School.

The essays were judged November 21st, 2011 by Kelly Schaefer of Burton Library, Rachel Simpson of Geauga County Library, and Maureen Stern of Bainbridge Library. We thank the judges
for their valuable time and effort in determining this years winner and honorable mention.

The #1 Dog in Geauga County was awarded to Jessica Sunderhaft and her dog Bailey.
Jessica is a 4th grade student at Kenston Intermediate School. An Honorable Mention
was also awarded to Natalie Girolamo and her dog Max.

Geauga County Public Library, Chardon Branch employee Kathy Wood, Geauga County Public

Raymie Byler and his dog Beauty. Raymie is a 5th grade student from Middlefield Township.

An Honarable Mention was also awarded to
Jonah Hamby from Newbury Township and his dog Amanda.
